چکیده

The “intelligent adaptive participant’s presumption protocol” (iAP 3 ) is an integrated atomic commit protocol. It interoperates implicit yes-vote, which is a one-phase commit protocol, besides presumed abort and presumed commit, the most commonly pronounced two-phase commit protocol variants. The aim of this combination is to achieve the performance advantages of one-phase commit protocols, on one hand, and the wide applicability of two-phase commit protocols, on the other. iAP 3 interoperates the three protocols in a dynamic fashion and on a per participant basis, in spite of the incompatibilities among the three protocols. Besides that, the protocol is backward compatible with the standardized presumed abort protocol. Whereas iAP 3 was initially proposed for the two-level (or flat) transaction execution model, this article extends the protocol to the multi-level distributed transaction execution model, the model adopted by the database standards and widely implemented in commercial database systems. Thus, broadening the applicability scope of the iAP 3 .

An intelligent adaptive participant's presumption protocol for atomic commitment in distributed databases

The objective of the original ‘adaptive participant’s presumption protocol’ (AP) was to achieve the performance advantages of one-phase commit protocols, whenever possible, and, at the same time, the wide applicability of two-phase commit protocols. Specifically, AP operates as a one-phase commit protocol for the commit processing of a transaction so long as the transaction is not associated wi...

A traceable optimistic fair exchange protocol in the standard model

An Optimistic Fair Exchange (OFE) protocol is a good way for two parties to exchange their digital items in a fair way such that at the end of the protocol execution, both of them receive their items or none of them receive anything. In an OFE protocol there is a semi-trusted third party, named arbitrator, which involves in the protocol if it is necessary. But there is a security problem when a...

An Online Q-learning Based Multi-Agent LFC for a Multi-Area Multi-Source Power System Including Distributed Energy Resources

This paper presents an online two-stage Q-learning based multi-agent (MA) controller for load frequency control (LFC) in an interconnected multi-area multi-source power system integrated with distributed energy resources (DERs). The proposed control strategy consists of two stages. The first stage is employed a PID controller which its parameters are designed using sine cosine optimization (SCO...

A Dynamic Two-Phase Commit Protocol for Adaptive Composite Services

Next-generation applications based on Web services impose additional requirements on the use of coordination protocols with various optimizations, such as the two-phase commit protocol (2PC). This article analyses the well-known 2PC optimizations “presumed commit” and “presumed abort,” and presents an improved 2PC that is suitable for Web-service-based applications. More specifically, the proto...

Optimization of majority protocol for controlling transactions concurrency in distributed databases by multi-agent systems

In this paper, we propose a new concurrency control algorithm based on multi-agent systems which is an extension of majority protocol. Then, we suggest a clustering approach to get better results in reliability, decreasing message passing and algorithm’s runtime. Here, we consider n different transactions working on non-conflict data items. Considering execution efficiency of some different...
